Schliemann's discoveries of the ancient world

Heinrich Schliemann, a pioneering archaeologist of the 19th century, made groundbreaking discoveries that reshaped our understanding of ancient civilizations. His excavations at Troy in modern-day Turkey uncovered layers of ancient cities, bringing to life the legends of Homer’s Iliad. Later, at Mycenae in Greece, he unearthed a wealth of artifacts, including the famous "Mask of Agamemnon." While his methods were controversial, Schliemann’s findings remain some of the most significant in the study of early history and archaeology.
